In the Spring of 2023 I began work on an experimental theatre piece entitled Unlocked: Shakespeare and the Pre-Raphaelites At the University of Virginia. I was interested in answering the questions: Why did artists of the Pre-Raphaelite era have such a fascination with Shakespeare? and How might these paintings inform a production of the play from which they take inspiration? set up as an art gallery with the help of projections, the space invites the audience to take in the paintings collectively, accompanied by a contextual video (as is often found in museums). They are then invited to sit as each painting is "unlocked" and brought to life by the performer. I hope to continue developing and expanding this project as a tool for both theatre and art history education, expanding and exploring different mediums and artistic movements.

My mentality when it comes to accessories is that they should be as large and flamboyant as possible! For this reason, I love creating costume pieces, particularly hats and headpieces. I find most of my inspiration in the natural world, and have recently begun a series of costumes based on some of my favorite plants and trees! I also draw inspiration from vintage and historical costume sketches, particularly ballet costumes from the 1920's and 30's as well as characters from the Italian Commedia Del'Arte. I have a BA in History with a minor in Italian studies from the College of Charleston. My love of history influences the direction I take with any project. My main creative goal when making something new is to have the project be born of the moment, in conversation with the colors, events, or mythology by which it is inspired.

I styled all of the photographs you see on this site, and love the challenge of creating new looks and designs. I created custom headpieces for our MFA production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer night's Dream at the University of Virginia. I have made everything from custom Minnie Mouse Ears, to Flapper Headdresses and Mardi Gras crowns.
